Long-time residence of Ronald and Nancy Reagan. The residence was constructed for the Reagans in 1956; they resided here until 1981, when they moved to Washington, D.C. following Reagan’s election as the 40th President of the United States. The house was designed by noted architect William R. Stephenson. It was outfitted by General Electric, for whom Reagan was a spokesperson, with energy-saving devices to control temperature, heat and light.   SurveyLA – LA Historic Resources Survey
